A Midsummer Night‘s Dream

Spend a magical evening at the Nomad Theatre, and enjoy our production in this special anniversary year of the playwright William Shakespeare.

Theseus, Duke of Athens is due to marry Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, in a few days, and the fairy kingdom are gathering in the woods to bless their wedding. Oberon, the Fairy King, is angry with Queen Titania. She will not let him have the changeling boy to be in his retinue.

Egeus, a member of Theseus‘ court wants his daughter Hermia to marry Demetrius, however, Hermia loves Lysander, we find with these lovers that the course of true love never does run smooth..‘. They secretly plan to meet in the wood and elope. Hermia tells this to her best friend Helena.

Some Mechanicals, ordinary working townsfolk, belonging to the local am dram group, (truly coarse actors), plan a play to entertain at the royal wedding. Rehearsals will take place in … the wood.

The mischievous hobgoblin, Robin Goodfellow, also known as The Puck, has fun at the expense of others, causing endless chaos with each group. Oberon is needed to sort out this muddle.

Colour, passion, song and dance and a strong influence of the 1970‘s glam rock, are allowed to run free in this fantastical, carnival celebration of revels.
