The Jesus Christ Superstar phenomenon comes to the Nomad Theatre, this Summer. The musical is loosely based on the Gospels’ accounts of the last 7 days of Jesus’ life. Beginning with the preparations for the arrival of Jesus and his disciples into Jerusalem and ending with The Crucifixion. As the resurrection is not included the production largely follows the form of a traditional passion play.
This legendary musical written by, Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Tim Rice, contains some of their most well known songs; I Don’t Know How To Love Him, Everything’s Alright, Hosanna & Jesus Christ Superstar, started life as a rock concept album. The countless stage productions and two movies have all evolved from that seminal, genre defining album.
This new production highlights the political and interpersonal struggles between Judas Iscariot, and Jesus. Bigotry, intolerance, fear and a refusal to accept new ideas lead inexorably to an emotionally devastating conclusion. Hard – hitting, sometimes tender, sometimes frighteningly brutal, this tragic yet ultimately inspiring piece of theatre will live in the memory for a very long time.
Book early as tickets are selling fast. Do not lose the chance to be part of this extraordinary event.
