the Young Nomads Sweet Charity

This is the story of Charity Hope Valentine, who works at a dance club and is often taken advantage of and shown the dark side of life through bad relationships. When she meets Oscar, it finally seems that romance is truly in the air, but in the end when he finds out Charity's past he refuses to marry her. Still, throughout it all, sweet Charity is strong and full of hope that some day her ideals will come true.

Sweet Charity ran for 608 performances originally on Broadway in 1966, with a revival twenty years later, and for 476 on its transfer to London. It won 3 Tony Awards and the Evening Standard Award for Best Musical.

With a book by America's greatest writer of stage comedies, Neil Simon, this is a bright and sophisticated show in every sense. Cy Coleman has captured the rhythms and sounds, and Dorothy Fields the vernacular and fun of New York. It's a comedy in every sense of the word, thanks to Neil Simon's talent for looking at the truly amusing side of life. It's an all-singing all-dancing show, and there are many great show-stopping numbers, such as Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now, I'm A Brass Band and Rhythm Of Life.
