Auditions for the multi-award winning Amadeus will be held on Sunday 18 September at 2.30pm and Tuesday 20 September at 8pm. In Vienna in 1823, Salieri looks back over his successful career as Court Composer, his hatred of Mozart, and how he conceived the young composer's demise. With an obnoxious personality totally incongruous with his musical genius, Mozart died neglected and impoverished while the mediocre Salieri lived in a blaze of fame and praise.
The parts available are as follows: Antonio Salieri Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Constanze Weber, wife to Mozart Joseph II, Emperor of Austria (could be changed to Empress) Count Johann Kilian von Strack, Groom of the Imperial Chamber Count Franz Orsini-Rosenberg, Director of the Imperial Opera Baron Gottfried van Swieten, Prefect of the Imperial Library Two "Venticelli," "Little Winds, " purveyors of information, gossip and rumour (male or female) Major-Domo Salieri's Valet (non-speaking) Salieri's Cook (non-speaking) Teresa Salieri, wife of Salieri (non-speaking) Katherina Cavalieri, Salieri's pupil (non-speaking) Guiseppe Bonno (non-speaking) Servants and Citizens of Vienna
We are looking men and women from young Nomads upwards. The ages and genders of the characters are flexible to some extent and there are plenty of opportunities for less experienced actors to "give it a go" with a non-speaking part. We look forward to seeing you at the auditions but if you want more information please call one of us:
