Talking Heads
Talking Heads will be performed in the Studio Theatre from June 10th-17th, at 8pm, all tickets £6.00. Three of Alan Bennett’s famous monologues will be performed each time, as follows:
A Chip in the Sugar, played by John Irwin A middle-aged repressed bachelor panics when he realises that his lonely, banal but contented life is threatened by an old flame returning to haunt his aged mother.
Her Big Chance, played by Elaine Burns Lesley, an actress of limited talent and achievement really believes that this film will be her opening to fame and fortune.
A Cream Cracker Under The Settee, played by Joan Partridge An elderly widow reminisces about her uneventful life and fear of internment in an old people’s home.
Alan Bennett’s plays display all his insight into ordinary people, their hopes and fears, the toils and travails of ordinary life. Warm, funny, elegiac, bleakly chilling or acidly funny, touching and disturbing… a sharp observation of the minutiae of suburban existence. |
